This position will be for our new Turlock, CA facility.
Schedule TBD, based on need, but likely regular business hours.
The incumbent will service a caseload of high needs clients who require therapy as a condition of their legal requirements.
These individuals are referred by CONREP, the Conservator's Office, and Collaborative Courts due to unaddressed, persistent mental health needs that have led to criminal justice involvement.
Clients will be re-entering the community after substantial and/or repeated periods of incarceration/institutionalization.
The incumbent will provide comprehensive assessment, crisis intervention, case management, individual and group therapy, and substance abuse services.
Clinicians will be assisting clients in meeting their needs and will make referrals as appropriate.
The overall goal of this position is to treat high risk clients, promote safe and sustained re-entry into the community within the least restrictive setting, and reduce recidivism into the criminal justice system and locked facilities.
Essential Functions Conducts intake of new clients, including assessment, community functioning, learning styles, and service needs, when appropriate.
This entails assessment of presenting problems, psychosocial history, mental status, diagnosis (DSM-IV) and criminogenic risk factors and needs.
Provide observation, ongoing assessment and therapeutic intervention consistent with physical and psychological status.
Provide clients with individual and group mental health treatment in order to achieve recovery goals.
Participate in the treatment/care plan, initial assessment, level of care considerations, and ongoing therapeutic support as needed.
Will keep an individual caseload, not to exceed 25 clients at any given time.
Supervisor will support the management of this caseload.
All clients on caseload are dealing with serious mental health issues and often are dual or triple diagnosed.
Provides ongoing mental health services, including psychotherapy (Individual, Group and Family), crisis intervention, clinical case management, and individualized treatment to a caseload of adults in need of mental health services.
Clients will be frequent users of crisis services and may not be connected to mental health and/or substance abuse providers.
Help clients stabilize and link to step-down programs and services.
Make clinically appropriate discharge plans and terminations.
Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Maintains client's records according to A&A requirements.
Records data in client's electronic chart.
Meets program productivity standards.
Assists in processing quality improvement requests.
Completes documentation of services in a timely fashion.
Attends staff and clinical team meetings and participates in training sessions (in-house and in the community).
Identifies program problems and makes recommendations to supervisory and administrative staff.
Provides education to A&A non-clinical staff and contracted agencies regarding program services, client needs and treatment.
Assists in planning and providing in-service trainings to staff.
Develops a comprehensive individual service plan for each client, integrating knowledge of a wide range of human service resources and addressing criminogenic risk factors and needs.
Provides consultation to a multi-disciplinary treatment team on the psychosocial ramifications of psychiatric illness.
Facilitates coordination of services among criminal justice and treatment agencies and advocates for and links clients to needed services.
Engages in consultation with our in-house Safety Director, local police dept, and community programs, including educational, legal, and social organizations involved in case management.
Education and Experience Master's in Counseling Psychology (MFT) or Social Work (LCSW), is registered with the BBS If not licensed, working towards gaining hours with the expectation of taking the licensing test within a reasonable time period, as determined by Clinical Director.
(Required) Preferred Experience Has worked within the criminal justice system in some therapeutic capacity.
Ability to speak fluent Spanish is a plus.
Certifications, Licenses, and other Special Requirements Certifications as required by state.
Must meet all health requirements, including TB.
Must pass criminal background check.
Must have compassion for and desire to work in a mental health environment.
